Recently my Samsung video cam with an sd card of 32 mb crashed.  Does anyone recommend one that can be used as a dashcam too and take stills?  Also, I would like night vision.  Cheap in price, but not in quality.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion. I probably should get 2 separate cameras.

Yep.

Dashcams are best at being a dashcam, and a little point-n-shoot or smartphone works better for snapshots.

I was using my video cam as a dash cam too and it took snap shots.  It was great, but I want night vision too.

I'm interested in a rearview camera also but don't know squat about them.
For a point n shoot camera with video capabilities cell phones are very good now.
I have to replace my cell phone and my top priority is getting one with a good camera.

Low light ability is one thing among many that they test.
For low light shots there are mounts for putting a cell phone on a tripod.
p.s. You can get former top of the line phones that have been out for several years at reasonable prices.

mnpaul, I am just looking for a video camera.  I still use a flip phone out of choice.  I like having redundancy as a back up when it comes to certain things like video cams.  That may have to change though when I leave. I may have to upgrade my phone.   I saw a night vision cam recently that reviewed good, but can't find the bookmark.  Thanks for the link.
