Vent and solar panels

Thank you for the ideas on what to do for the wind resistance.  I will probably try to get one

So..I started posting over in RV.   I went to see the "van conversion".  And it was HUGE. It was really, a class C RV.   

I have tons of realestate up top...no worries about the space to put it all!  

This makes a lot more sense for me...for many reasons.   

I hope to have it completed enough to join everyone this coming January

I was thinking of doing this as well. I'm just putting the van together.

I found that I made a crucial mistake at the beginning - Instead of mounted the Maxx Air Fan at the very back of the GMC van I mounted it about 10 inches from the back of the van....I put two 100 watt solar panels in front of that - so far so good but then I decided why not get one more solar panel. I got an 160 Grape solar panel..

The only problem is that its 58" long; it would just fit perpendicularly across the roof of the van except that because the side bars of the roof racks I bought bend inwards a bit - I actually only have about 55" to work with ..So I would have to saw off the top of side bars of the roof racks and then elevate the panel so that it goes over top of side bars of the roof rack.

I couldn't see how to do that easily (although I think I just figured out a way) = so I just put the panel parallel to the roof. With that it extends all the way to the back of the front door - and now I'm pretty sure it's bringing my MPG down quite a bit.

Then I thought  I could get taller roof racks - I would need almost 11 inches - and lift one of the 100 watt panels above the MaxxAir Fan..since .it would be in the back of the vehicle - I don't the elevated rack would effect gas mileage that much...That would bring everything back about a foot or so....and based on my testing I don't think I get a MPG hit at that location.

Or I may just go with elevating the Grape Solar panel enough so that it will clear the side bars of the roof racks.

Or I may do nothing.
