Check out this ad for van on CNG (Canadian Natural Gas): vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rch/cto/4405439233.html

He says $30 will get him 250-300km (keeping in my gas prices are higher here in Canada... currently about $1.40 a litre).

Do you think he fuel cost claims are legit?

CNG stands for COMPRESSED Natural Gas.

Propane ( aka LPG) is stored as a liquid, in tanks rated at 400 psi or so.

CNG is stored as a gas at very high pressures - 3000 to 3600 psi.

I would take that to mean that - WHEN, not if - you have problems with the fuel tank or lines, it's gonna get expensive.

Regards
John

ps - another question to consider: Can any mechanic legally work on CNG vehicles, or do they need to be especially trained and certified?

I could tell you that in alot of states you would have to be a Lic. gas Tech to work on those vehicles or fuel systems
