I just spent the weekend in Vancouver BC visiting my daughter as she has a new place in Mt. Pleasant. I don't generally do much looking around in the residential areas, but man o man are there ever a lot of vans on the streets; conversions, cargos, beaters...it seemed endless. Most had curtains in the windows and between the cab and back. Some were sitting on nearly flat tires with moss growing. I must have seen 2 dozen within a half hour. Are there really that many van dwellers out there? Once you start looking they stick out like sore thumbs...can we assume they live hassle free?

I live in Vancouver. ... the surrounding area actually. Yes there are lots of vandwellers here. Vancouver has the mildest climate in the country. They are supposed to move every 3 days and if you have a Class A they will tow you.

Whereabouts in Vancouver were you?

There is also a high number of Vancouver Van Dwellers with youtube channels, I know of three, good channels, too :)

Between Kingsway and Broadway near Main.

Vancouver is cool. Expensive, though. That steam clock is neat.

I know that area well. I lived  few blocks from there while attending university for 5 years. Its one of the most vandweller friendly area in the city. If it weren't for my kids, I'd be there myself. Lots of cool, progressive thinking people there.

The housing market is unreal expensive. Even a trailer park costs $900 a month to rent. The average "nothing special" house costs well over a half million dollars. I love this city though. Dont think I could live anywhere else.

That explains the abundance of van dwellers
It's definitely on my list of places to visit when I get out there, thanks to "Justin Credible" and his very entertaining and inspiring youtube channel.
