Can anyone advise on how to remove carpet glue from the floor of a van.I would also like to know if anyone has used some type of rubber flooring, as that would be easy to keep clean with a couple of small rugs that can be shaken out. Any help would be so much appreciated! This is holding me up from getting on the road!
Thanks so much!

There are many auto parts dealers that can supply a fitted rubber floor mat for most vans. Have you tried to scrape the glue? I don't recommend solvent in such a close space. I would put a sheet of ply wood down, as an easy fast solution. 4x8 fits between the wheel wells with no cutting. On mine, I cut two sheets 6 ft across and 8 foot front to back. I used fancy saw work to fit around wheel wells.

Not sure about the glue removal, but a new floor combo for us is polyiso 1/2", then 1/4" ply/underlayment, then 1 piece of cut linoleum flooring (the fake wood floor pattern looks preety good)

I'd recommend the 1 piece linoleum as opposed to the squares...no. cracks for things to accumulate in.

I would just leave the glue. if you really need it out it's probably going to take solvent. you could try a heat gun but be very careful, you don't want light you van on fire. highdesertranger

I am going to take him to an rv place in Tacoma and get an estimate to put rubber flooring in, it will probably cost a whole SS check! But the estimate is free!
Thanks to all of you for ur help! ?

Yes, u are so right about the vinyl, I will definitely u try that as opposed to the squares! I am not sure about the 6" deep pan, but it will work out, I just want to get on the road, but I do have to have my fantastic fan put in. It won't be easy with the fabric headliner!

you can buy premade rubber floor covering from all kinds of suppliers. LMC, JC Whintney, etc. no need to go to a RV dealer. highdesertranger

I have checked with some pre-made sites and they just don't seem to have my exact vehicle it is a 1989 so it is pretty out of date

boy I tell you I can't find them. for pick-ups it's no problem. there are a couple of places that sell the rubber and you cut to fit. would that work? highdesertranger

That is no longer a "van". It is now a camper. The floor will have to be cut to fit. You can do this with any type flooring.
