Van Camping Near St. Charles, MO

Hello Friends!

Leaving CA soon, going back to St. Charles, MO due to family medical issue. Does anyone have suggestions on where to camp near there? Free or cheap? No hookups needed. Everyplace I know is like an hour away. Makes for a LOT of driving back & forth every day. Even worse when I need to go into StL.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

It looks like I might not need this now. A friend has offered to let me stay in a vacant house he owns, rent free, in exchange for some minor maintenance. It's even furnished. Wow. It's not every day something like this falls into my lap. In fact, never, until today.
