Which would you choose Truck Camper  or class B ( van conversion, Roadtrek) if  your driving history is less than 2 years old? My  family  thinks  a  Truck Camper is meant for experienced driver not inexperienced driver like me.

I personally have a Roadtrek.  It drives pretty much like any van except way heavier and taller.  You won't win any drag races with it :D  and stopping takes longer distances.  You will want to drive like granny.  Mine weighs about 9700 pounds when traveling.  Most of the weight is down low between the frame giving it a very low center of gravity.  It far exceeds rollover safety tests.

A truck camper would all depend upon how evenly it is loaded (or overloaded as the case may be).  If you put a heavy camper on a lightweight (1500) pickup, the pickup will be overloaded and dangerous to drive as there is too much weight in the back then steering/cornering/braking stability will be greatly affected.  If it is a well balanced rig, then it shouldn't be a problem either.  Of course your center of gravity will be much higher.

Either way, driving like granny on Sunday is the only way.

I'll let others give more info on truck campers.  For full disclosure, I have never had one.  I like being able to go from the driver's seat to bed without getting out of the vehicle especially if the weather is bad.  I guess some may have a passthrough back window but I ain't young no more :s

With a truck camper you can unload the camper and use the truck as a truck. Generally it will be a 3/4 ton or heavier Ton model as most campers when loaded will require these. Depending on the truck and camper often mirrors will need to be modified or adjusted to allow proper vission to the rear. Both vehicles will require some practice in a safe place, but at least you haven't been driving long enough to have formed bad habits. Make sure you get someone experienced to show you the skills you need to make it a good experience.
