Tropical storm coming. Most simulations have it headed for the east coast. One has it going under the Keys and hitting the west coast of Florida. SO glad we sold the house!

I doubt the tropical storm is going to be of any consequence to those who don't play in the ocean. The "Cone of uncertainty" still has it travelling well offshore. So it should be a wave maker for the East coast, and all the Surfers are getting amped, overexcited, and if it gets really good, they will be "frothing". The tropics are avidly watched by every wave rider on the east coast for signs of energy.

I just exited the Pacific, where Hurricane Lowell, now post tropical cyclone Lowell, had a very consistent, very fun swell massaging the coastline with a very steep, short period South Swell in the neck high to 1 foot overhead range. There is also a Long period swell from a storm just East of NewZealand about 10 days ago, underneath the tropical energy. We have a major hurricane( Marie) forecast to move into out swell window late Sunday and is supposed to give select areas a Lot of swell energy. Should be a fun week. I am going to be chewing Aleve like candy. Freaking lower back...

Stern, you remind me of the skiers and snowmobilers who get all excited and start talking about "how great it's going to be" whenever a major winter storm is forecast.

The rest of us, who have to battle our way in to work, shovel the damn sidewalk yet again, and deal with the frozen pipes when the power fails have to keep reminding ourselves that killing people is against the law.

Regards
John

I was programmed to love storms, but now live in San Diego, and miss real weather events.

I have a lot of friends, surfers, whose houses were ruined by Hurricane Sandy. They are not so eager when tropical systems start working their way in their general direction as they once were.

But the weather is going to do what it is going to do , despite the will of a small minority who see a storm and want it to turn into a cat 5 with a Giant Fetch or just break records.

Hurricane Marie, on the last update has rapidly intensified, as well as expanded the wind field ( more fetch= bigger swell), and I am feeling the beginnings of a froth episode, as the forecasted swell is likely going to be very significant.

Right there with ya Stern--I LOVE me some storms! I feel for those who have bad luck in them or have to struggle through them, but as long as you know how to stay safe then it's like a roller coaster!
