Taking off tomorrow morning heading south through the eastern states. I am a part timer. I do extended road trips to experience the mobile lifestyle. I once lived and traveled around the US in a motor home for about 5 years. We (wife and I) gave that up about 6 years ago to settle in a small home in Florida. I sold the motor home and even though I am very comfortable in house I still have the road itch that needs scratched from time to time. So, I just pack up my car (1992 Honda Accord) and roam around for a few weeks or a month to satisfy that desire. I carry a tent and camping equipment for the camp grounds and such, will sleep in the car for a night here and there in a Wal-Mart or maybe travel plaza truck stop etc., and do a cheap motel once in a while too. I like to mix it up a bit.
I am retired but my wife is lots younger than me and still works so I mostly do solo trips, unless she is on vacation. We talk sometimes about getting another motor home and start traveling again, but that may not happen. It was a pretty fun life full timing. But, there were things that caused us to go off the road and get a house. Anyway, I am happy doing my extended roaming s for now.
I have lurked here for a little while and have used some of the tips and suggestions in my part time travels. So just because I am not living the full time van, truck, or car life doesn't mean that I haven't been helped by this community, because I have. Thanks for all the information.
