Wednesday evening I received what I thought was a robocall claiming to be The V.A. conducting a Town Hall Meeting. Just prior to hanging up I decided to play along but not give any information if asked.
As it turns out it was real. They had culled 9000 Vets who had had Primary Care appointments in the last 90 days and were wanting feedback and also the floor (as it were) was open for questions with Patient Advocates taking any question with a promise to answer then or within 24 hours. The call lasted an hour and a half, I signed up to ask a question but they ran out of time, or recognized my number and put me on ignore) J/K.
Many of the questions involved treatment away from the Vets home region. The moderator, who I had never heard of, deferred to the Dallas Chief of Staff who said that was a priority as was coordinating the use of the health cards that to me so far have been worthless. There were a great many calls on about every subject you can think of and I won't bore you with the details, but they did ask for a vote about continuing the telephone Town Meetings. 90% were in favor of them versus the in person meetings. Out of the 9000 called 900 took part.
Shumski seems to be trying to get the VA in some sort of order. I personally trust the VA as far as I can chunk my truck but I am willing to give them a chance.
I type this in case some of the Vets get a call asking about participating. Listen for a bit. It's not a robocall. I remember the responses from many of the quesstions so if anyone has a question maybe I can tell you what their reply was.
On another note, 25% of he participants were female. There were many gender specific questions that seemed pertinent. I mentor a young woman who is a Marine and she has asked me many of the questions these women were asking.
Peace to all....
Rob
