sorry, I know some of you don't have bandwidth for youtube, but I can't for whatever reason post pics here

the interior shows signs of water damage, but it rained a few days ago and nothing inside was wet, not even the sleeping pads
the interior is not as I think it was from the factory, but it's still the same basic design, beds behind driver's seat, etc
LP system is history, no idea if hand pump for sink works, electrical he says still works, AC blows cold, both from the dash and from the roof, according to him
I didn't test drive it due to plates being out (he said he's getting it plated on tuesday) engine has a minor miss at idle and carb  is a tad rich
some of the plywood in the standing area drop box is somewhat the worse for wear, but looks easy to replace

which motor? check for rust?
the price is right, might be able to get him down a couple hundred more, expect to do some wrenckin
looked a whole lot better then that trailer in your vid

Re: the water damage. Vehicles are often moved from flood areas to dry areas and sold. Yes, interior view would be nice.

What year is is? Mileage? Any known history? Was it imported from another state? What kind of reviews does the dealer have?

Sorry about the lack of interior vid, didn't think to do that while the seller was there It's rough of course, being a 1979, and the interior has been redone, in the living area, using the original setup as a general guideline, i think, because fit and finish look workmanlike rather than slick
the carpet was at some point replaced with shag (what is it with vans and shag?)
i would say the inside matches the outside, worn and a bit rednecked, but rednecked by a skilled redneck, not a dumb as a stump bubba
Gary, it has a 360, not Mopar's shining star, but usually a decent workhorse motor I think, he will sell for $1400 and no less
there is surface rust on the van, with a few pinholes, and of course there's a nice case of cancer on the chassis, but didn't look awful
Near as I could tell, it doesn't have the dreaded '80s dodge pickup frame crack next to the steering box issue
Haha that trailer sure needs some love, might still 'legalize' it to resell
TC the water damage looks to me to be from a leaking roof, rather than high water, but you have a point, luckily a 79 has few electronics
It had a Texas inspection sticker on it, so I'm reasonably sure it's not imported
The seller is an individual, not a dealer, but my friend that spotted the van knows him and seems to think he's honest
this may all be moot, as I'm some short of the purchase price, and while I can get a loan for a new bargo trailer fairly easily, the bank might say no due to the age of the van
Oh, it's on a dually chassis, so it's likely a beast

Is the fuel economy important to you? It sounds like most everything can be fixed, and the price isn't bad (though I would imagine if you are going to do some traveling it'll take a bit of maintenance to make it more reliable on trips). But I would imagine that the gas mileage would be pretty poor and for me that would be my biggest concern aside from maintenance.

If you follow "Steps to Wander" on YouTube, they have a similar van. Perhaps they would share their gas mileage

that's a very good point, ViaVacavi, because I can't insure 2 vehicles, so if I bought it it would have to replace my Ranger as my daily driver
Yahoo Answers says about 10 MPG, compared to my Ranger's 17 or so
maybe not a good idea lol

Trans vans are neat. The frames do not have the crack problem the trucks do because its fully boxed in. BUT they are very very prone to rust. The 360 is a great engine. The 4v Thermoquad is garbage, and should be replaced with a slightly newer quadrajet. 10mpg sounds about right.

x2 on the Thermoquad being junk. it's hard to tell anything from that video. not only check the frame around the steering box but also check around the idler arm. highdesertranger

Thanks HDR, I think I'll just let this one be, between the work it needs and the low MPGs, It's just not worth it
I could put the same layout in a cargo trailer pretty easily
