Great find! It can take some looking and some time, but I found some unbelievable buys at thrift shops. Gee, I loved shopping the Goodwill with my mom when I was a girl. Wonderland of cool stuff!

Picked up one of these for $10 off of Craigslist a day ago.

It only has the clamp and not the whole mounting arm but that's fine with me. I plan to mount a pole to mount antenna from. I have the CB antenna and now the HDTV. I know I want a cell and a WiFi antenna as well. If I get ambitious I will also build an Arduino weather station.

Like the guy played by Jack Lemmon in Mr Roberts, you are now officially the "scrounger" for the forum.  well done!  :D

So, I'll stick my neck out here.........  I can't be the only one looking at the photo with the dog thinking...... "clean up your yard man! Is this how you leave camp sites? "
come over and help i can use it

Im going to stick my 2 cents in.

How much room will you have while on the road?  95% of the stuff I bought for my travels, I either sold or gave away.   Much of it went on the free tarp at RTR.

One thing that I am seriously thinking, is to spring for a storage unit for the stuff I do not want to part with.  If health forces me off the road again, I do not want to buy my cookware that I spent hundreds of dollars on, and there are heirlooms that I do not want the kids to get until they are settled down more permanantly.

I have one sleeping bag that was only opened once when I was stranded by an ice storm.

I am seriouslyn thinking on tearing out my bed, and put in my recliner that I sleep on.  Less single use items, and all the comforts of home.

I didn't think that, and I def didn't even come close to thinking that's how a campsite would be left. Maybe it was meant to be humorous on your part? Hopefully you're not yard patrol! Lol, you would have a stroke if you saw how cluttered my place can get.

i figure i can give away or barter to people who need the gear

well i got a coleman 2 burner stove today for $5.00 it is a model from the 50's and i put fuel in it and it works so i did well i thought .

That 2 burner for $5 I'm going to designate as "The Deal Of The Day".  That's what a couple of us call the absolute best find of the day, even if free since some really nice stuff is often set on the roadside.    I think the true value of things is in what they are/do and not what they cost.

I was at my local thrift store this morning and a 2 burner Colemman was $25!  I did buy a 1 burner propane burner with wind baffle and the propane bottle connectoer/tube in the original box, it looks like it hasn't been used, it was $8.  I also found new in the box, a stainless steel set of 2 insulated mugs, the little electric heating burner, and the 12v ciggy cord.  Now I can make hot cocoa and instant oatmeal for breakfast in the van!   Whoopee...Now we can both cook in or out of our vans   :)

You are finding some really good deals!  Other than the trailer hitch and the elec. power port $15.  I don't think I've spent more than $5 or $10 on any one thing.  I traded the Ranger for around $700 in repairs/improvements on the Safari and my mechanic is very reasonable in what he charges.  I also got $300 cash and that paid for my portable drill and the rest is in our "Get the hell outta Dodge fund".

I know if we keep working we will get our wheels rollin' out on the highways one of these years......err...... days :)
