Can anybody think of more things that are easy to cook that won't involve doing dishes?
I'm feeling tired tonight .

I came up with roasting hotdogs

If you're cooking outdoors either on a fire or a grill you can always put together camp packages.

Ground beef or chunks of beef (stew sized), sliced potatoes, chunks of carrots and quartered onions. Layer in that order on heavy foil, fold top double and fold in ends then turn over and repeat wrapping with a second layer of foil.

Cook over medium to low flame for 30 to 45 minutes until done. Eat from foil.

Beans heated directly in the can are always an option for the discerning bachelor. Tip: Cut the label off first.

BBQ anything. note you can BBQ veggies. corn and asparagus are 2 of my favorites. highdesertranger

Love this thread!

I don't cook much as it is and I hate washing dishes, so easy 'dish washing free' recipes will always be helpful when I hit the road. My boyfriend laughs every time he looks in my fridge and says it looks like a bachelors fridge. hahaha

Corn too with the foil. You can shuck the corn and salt/butter them before the foil or (I've heard) leave them in the shucks and soak them in water before giving them the coal treatment.

I do corn on the grill a LOT, I shuck it first though then wrap in foil.  It's delicious, now I want some.  hahaha

I cook pretty much everything in cast iron skillet, then eat it out of it. One dish!

I keep a metal basket (like a colander with a handle) for this same reason, makes it real easy to do other veggies on the grill. Throw broccoli in the basket, drizzle olive oil and let it flash on high heat for a moment, throw around with salt and pepper, eat tasty seared broccolis.

Don't forget to OPEN THE CAN before heating beans, etc......

No no, that's the expedited delivery system; just stand back with mouth open.

A couple times I've just dented the can, stuck it in the fire and waited for the dent to push out. Slight chance of beansplosion, in which case the open mouth technique might be useful!

Most of the year if in the morning, you park facing south and set any cans of food on the dash, by noon they will be too hot to hold bare handed.  All you need is a can opener and a fork or spoon.

I've used this for drying laundry but haven't tried it for food... Interesting thought.

Mongo like beans!

I make something I call "Mexican Lasagna" in those disposable 8x8 foil pans.  It's just fabrication from cans, bags, bottles etc and a bit of baking.

In an  8x8 foil pan that can be pitched later.

Take a bag of seasoned Tortilla Chips and break them up into smaller pieces about 1 inch square or so.  I like the Chili Lime chips.

Grill a package of hotdog's to the way you like them and pull them off the fire to cool.  Next cut through them
lengthwise twice to get three thin strips of hotdog.

Have a 16 to 24 oz bottle of  Taco Sauce ready

Chili hot beans warmed some so it can be spooned over the corn chips.

Bottles of Banana pepper rings & jalapeno pepper rings

Bottles of sliced green olives and sliced black olives

At least a 2 cup bag of shredded cheddar cheese or your favorite. (more cheese is better)

Optional,  if you have it,  pieces of fried chicken you can pull apart to use if you don't like hotdogs.  You
can use smoked sausage if you like, just slice it thin.

Here's how ya do it:

Spray the 8x8 with some vegetable oil.

Spread out a 1/2 inch layer of chips.

Lay sliced hotdogs or pieces of chicken over the chips (or both) to where it is loosely covered  with
meat.

Spoon some Chili Hot beans  over to cover loosely.

Cover this with random banana peppers and jalapeno's.

Add sliced olives next.

Drizzle Taco Sauce over this as a thin coat.

Cover all of this with a generous layer of shredded cheese.

Repeat the second layer the same way.

When finished pour the remaining Taco Sauce over the top to cover the cheese completely.

You can throw some more peppers or olives on that for a garnish if you like.

Place in a 325 degree F oven for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes or until it begins to smell real good.

Remove and let rest for 15 minutes at least.

If it's just you, you can eat it right out of the pan.   Then you only have your fork to clean.  It keeps rather well but it probably won't last that long.  LOL

You won't really need to season this cause there is more than enough herbs and spices in the ingredients used in this dish.  Of course you could use red pepper flakes or Texas Pete if you wanted.

I found that surrounding the food container with a silver sunshade cone to concentrate the heat makes it even faster (I have a doghouse front section so my windshield is deep).

This works for things in shelf stable containers too... like penne pasta with marinara in those sealed plastic "bowls." (brands like Hormel or Barilla) Just poke some steam holes or peel back a tiny vent.

This is a brilliant thread. LOL

Does pouring some oil in a pan when you are done count as doing dishes? If not I haven't cleaned my newest pan in months because l've only used it for eggs and pancakes... Eggs I cracking in the hot pan, flip then shut off the gas to finish cooking(usually mediium) and either flip onto a slice of bread or my hand to eat like a snack.
I like rationing things like pancake mix in zip lock bags, just add water, mix and pour, then you can toss the bag if you want or try to wash it.

it depends on what weight oil, 10-40 is ok but if your talking 90w, no way. lol. highdesertranger
