28 degrees,snow/sleet falling.Wind 15,gusting to 30.Ugly,gray day.Laid back in the recliner.Dogs sleeping, nice fire burning.Smell of baked cinnamon apples coming from the kitchen.Time for a not toddy.I do love the changing seasons.Hope everyone is enjoying the day, wherever you are.

We've already had 17 degrees here, but snow level a couple of thousand feet higher. I prefer not toddies too.

I am sitting in the Home Depot parking lot and the wind is gusting and shaking the van, not cold though still 51 degrees. The bad news is that my Liquid Nails Project  glue did not dry during the past couple days. When I took the bracing out it looked fine,  but then fell off the ceiling while I was driving.  Home Depot is blaming cold temp, says 70 degrees drying temp is needed for glue. Never had this problem with Liquid Nails glue before. Moving on wood strips and screws to keep it up there.  I really do not want wood on the ceiling though.  What is a not toddy?  -crofter

You do realize that at least one of the surfaces must be porous when using liquid nails?

I should think it's a bit cold to be using glue of almost any sort, if the temps are around 50F. maki2 probably knows better, but as I see it, the solvents have to evaporate and that works better at higher temperatures. Plus I've only every tried liquid nails on wood to wood, maybe contact cement  wold be better for a metal side.

"not toddy" is what OP was drinking so thought I would try one, :).

Ha.The toddy kicked in before I even drank it.Now I'll have to invent a drink to call a "not toddy".A tough job but somebody has to do it.

Now I do. That is a better explanation than temperature. Also I used the interior glue, and all my previous work has been with Liquid Nails exterior on the XPS sheets. I have glued it to metal before, but not not this much metal. I'll have to check out that vid where they built a chair out of the XPS. That might clue me in about the glue.   ~crofter

Don't know how a weather thread evolved into a glue thread.Anyway,it is so cold here(give me a Johnny Carson"How cold was it?)It was so cold, that when my neighbor came by and said something I had to pick his breath up off the ground and heat it in a frying pan to hear what he said.

Good one. It was so cold here the Liquid Nails turned brittle, then melted once it warmed up above freezing. Well, she "did" start out talking about the cold. I mean it was "51 degrees" there, give the poor gal a break, lol. Give her the recipe for "not toddies".

Sorry about the derail. I was just so shocked when the stuff fell off while I was driving.
We are going to be saying "It was so cold that ...." alot this winter according to the forecasters. Still nice here in OR though, those glowing days of autumn with days in the 50's and 60's   ~crofter

It's so cold here tonight,I thought about letting the grandkids sleep in the house.
