Scocshe is one of the players in the low end car audio market, I haven't been impressed by any of there products that I've used from battery terminals to installation kits and RCA wires. But as we all know brands can change and quality can vary based on the product.
My main car charger right now is a cheap PDP with one 2.1a and one 1a.

I always buy only ANKER and I never have issues. Cables chargers anything they make. It's just superior quality.

I recently ran across this article.  Great read.

PS:  I never heard of the brand they declared "best", but the brand that came in second only because it was bigger and not as "stylish" was Anker.  Them I know, and they make excellent stuff.

FYI, bulk of Wirecutter revenue ... from Amazon.
And I have used Anker and agree, excellent products.

I have this scocshe usb charger and it works well, charging my iPad and iPhone quickly at the same time (among other things). I also happen to have cheaper usb chargers that can't handle the load both require. I'm not sure why they even put two USB slots in some of them when they can hardly handle anything more than a phone.

I don't know about best, but if you are on electrical hookups very often, you may want to change out at least one of your duplex outlets to a Decora 15 Amp Tamper Resistant Combination Receptacle and USB Charger ($19.97 and the one I actually installed) or Decora 15 Amp Combination Duplex Receptacle and USB Charger (a little pricier at $24.97 but you still have two receptacles plus 2 USBs). I would have gotten the duplex receptacle/usb combo if my store had them in stock when I bought.  As it is, I need to add a few more USBs and will swap out a few duplex receptacles for the duplex/USB versions. I have been using the receptacle/USB charger to charge my Galaxy Tab as well as my cellphone at the same time, usually overnight. Both have USB cords that plug into little warts that then plug into the receptacle and both tend to eat up a little space meaning I am not always able to plug certain items in.

Also comes in a 20 amp version as well. For more different USB chargers.

If you object to shopping at Home Depot, I'm sure you can find the same brand and others elsewhere. The links are just to let you see what I am talking about.

I really like the short 1' long micro USb cables I bought from Anker through Amazon. they reduce phone charging times noticeably and still pass Data.

My best USB source is my Blueseas 12v unit:
http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sea-Syst...8&qid=1437863526&sr=8-1&keywords=blueseas+USB

It is able to maintian the highest voltage when loaded as far as I can load it with my Devices. It will hold 5.08v under a 0.98 amp load, where as my other USB sources, even the samsung provided wall wart drop below 5 volts and to 0.88a.

How do I know how much Juice is flowing?

If one has the ability to plug in, then the converter/ charger will provide the DC current necessary to power a 12v to 5V usb source. and when one does not have grid power, then one does not need to use an inverter just to power a wall wart transformer just for charging a USB device.

I see no need to use 120Vac receptacles at all for USB source powering in an RV. Only a stick and brick Household.

I have 2 USB sources which plug into Ciggy receptacles which do not work as well as the Blueseas.

I just posted it because I thought surely I am not the only one who does not have a cigarette outlet in their RV. I guess I was wrong.  Sorry to have posted something that was not needed.

If I could delete the post I would. Unfortunately this forum will not allow that from what I can tell.

It was not my intention to insult you CR

That Blue seas unit I linked does not plug into a ciggy type receptacle. It mounts in a similar method, but is purpose made to take 12vDC battery powerl and turn it into 5v for a USB source. A DC to DC conversion.

The household outlets take 115vAC and transform it to 5vDC which is less efficient, but which might not be a factor, especially when one hooks into grid power.

If one is using an inverter to power the outlets, then 12vDC is Inverted to 115Vac at ~85% efficiency and then reconverted to 5VDC at a similar efficiency.

Both of them use power when there is No USB device being charged. The Blueseas has a 0.0015amp amp parasitic draw, I do not know what the 120Vac outlets consume, But an Inverter will likely use 0.25 amps turned on powering nothing.

I tried to measure the standby current of those Leviton power ports when powering/charging nothing, which I have installed in stick and bricks, but my tools were not sensitive enough.

If one has a charging source going when plugged in, then it can cover the 12v USB source's electrical consumption, and when one does not have grid power, then one does not need to use their inverter just to power a USB source, and save battery power.
