I am wondering if anyone knows where I could rent a plot of land for 150 to 200 per month to tent camp on that has running water and electric included via tent only, no rv.  In or around Texas or around New Mexico or Oklahoma or Colorado.

Colorado is hard, and more expensive than that. CL has been flooded with people looking for a place to pitch a tent since the legalization of recreational pot.
Throughout most of NM and CO if you are planning longer term and are unable to get windbreaks from buildings or shelterbelts you will want a more durable tent than your typical tent Something like a modern mountaineering tent or canvas. My tent is military surplus canvas, no floor but cheap and it will take the winds.

Being mobile by car and the vast public lands that allow dispersed tent camping you always have the option of doing it that way, you of course would have to haul your water in your car and do with minimal electricity but it's an option.

Have you checked to see if there is a K.O.A. near where you want to camp? I think you can tent camp there, and there may be other camp grounds similar but with different names.

This my not be universal, but if a piece of land has utilities like electricity and water it probably requires anyone living on it to meet sanitary codes, i.e., septic tank, gray water, etc. Land where you haul in water and use solar has more hope.

This may not be exactly what you're after, but I recall driving through Texas and New Mexico this past January on I 20 and I 10 and seeing a stretch of land in the middle of nowhere that could be bought really cheaply... something like $16,000 for twenty acres plots?

With a $1000 down payment, your payments would be $88/mo for thirty years. It doesn't get much cheaper than that.

I thought about trying to buy a plot of land. I wonder if they require good or okay credit.

If you are able, maybe look into land caretaker opportunities. My brother landed a sweet gig when he was younger caretaking a place. He got abit lucky, but he had 800 acres, 3 stocked ponds, tractors and toys to play with, free guest house and $800 monthly stipend. The owners would stop in maybe twice a year for a few weeks for hunting, whatnot, but other than that it was almost like the place was his. I wouldn't think this is an easy gig to get, but if you lowered expectations, you might find something similar. Best of luck!
