Hey all!

Our dog freaked out during storms while she was in our pop up alone. She ripped a hole in the canvas (see attached pictures). Does anyone know if this is something that can be fixed easily on our own? If not, does anyone have an idea how much it would cost to get it professionally fixed? We have a 2015 Jayco.

Not sure on the cost to repair, but someone who makes boat covers would be in the know.

If you go to where they sell sewing things and fabric.. you can get something the same color to make a patch with.. they also have a glue to make hems with that would work, and finish it off with some upholstery needles and thread.. If the canvas is not rotten, you should be good.. I patch stuff like that all the time.. its no big deal.. No point in spending a lot of money on a fix till you are sure it will not happen again.. Welcome..

I think I’d use duck tape until I find a better way

I would do something that the dog couldn't tear up or do something with the dog to make sure there wouldn't be any more damage. Maybe a dog box? Living fulltime is a lot different than camping and damage like that is gonna get expensive quick.

sew it up. get some canvas and sew it up. you can sew it by hand and you can do it in place with a Speedy Stitcher.

oh need I mention that if you dog is afraid of the boom booms of any type he/she should not be left alone during a boom boom event. I am assuming there was a thunder storm.

Tent manufacturers will many times do repair as well! There are also gear repair places scattered around depending on where you’re at! You’re local RV Shop May have a lead.

The duct tape for now.  Basically it was invented for such repairs.

My Grand Dad was an upholsterer for a Rail Road when I was a kid.  He did these kinds of side jobs
all the time.  Can't say who or what price you would be faced with today,  but I know he would fix that
in a couple of hours.

Tools like he would have used would have come from Harbor Freight and Upholstery Supply Stores.

An Awl using nylon thread and he would rub the thread on a piece of bees wax.

Sewing Awl

Jo-Ann Fabric Stores carry "curved needles" which may be helpful to have.

Curved Needles

Any Tent and Awning supply company will likely have similar material you could buy to make the repair.

This job could be done in place without having to remove all of the canvas and make a $200 repair out of it.
Look for an upholsterer who would take this job on after work if you can find one.  This would just be considered
patching a damage.

I've repaired canvas using a curved needle and dental floss.
