I have been reading posts on here for a while now and thought I should introduce myself. My husband and I would love to live on the road. That is our dream. But it looks impossible at the moment. We have been without a vehicle for about three years. I ride my bike or take the bus to get around. Our rent takes about half of DH's SS retirement check each month. I am presently unemployed.
Anyway, I am typing on my phone. I just wanted to come out of the shadows and let you know of our existence.
Drive on. [emoji4]

Welcome to CRVL, :)

This can be your first solid step to reaching your goal of finding a Vehicle suited to your objectives.  Then fixing it
up to suit your needs to traveling.

I would invite you to check out the links at the bottom of this post.  Both will be helpful for getting started.

Welcome and I hope you'll be able to find a path to realize that dream. It can really help to do a little something if only reading an article each day that makes you feel like you are moving toward the dream. Baby steps.

Langleyc05, Welcome to the CRVL forums! For many of us, full timing was the answer to our meager income. Continue to dream and you'll find a way, if it's really what you want.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Thank you, Cyndi and Snow Gypsy, for the kind welcome. By the way "Langleyc05" isn't a name I would have picked for this forum. It just kind of defaulted to the first part of my email address. You can call me Carolyn. :)

For better or worse, my natural state is not very goal oriented and tends toward procrastination. OK, so mostly " worse". ;)

For the first time in a long while, I feel enthusiastic about a goal which is going to a mobile lifestyle, and I'm willing to work more and make some sacrifices to make it happen. Reading forums helps me stay focused and positive about moving forward... so keep coming around and hopefully a path will present itself where you can make it happen too...

Hi Carolyn, welcome. This is a good place. It is helping me convert my dreams to reality. Sassy

Hi Carolyn, I'm sure money is tight, but if you can come with some money to move into a van then you can start paying yourself that rent. Put it into a savings account every month and I bet after a year it will be a big chunk of change. You can even run an ad on Craigslist offering someone $100 a month to let you sleep in their driveway--you'd be surprised how easy it is to find that.

After a year you'll have some cash, that opens up lots of possibilities for you. You could buy an RV, put it in an RV Park and keep saving or you could start traveling very slowly in either your new RV or a van.

Before you do you'll want to set aside money into an emergency account, I recommend $3000 as that will buy you a new engine, transmission, or even a whole new van.

I know this might all seem unrealistic, but it really is possible. It is more difficult for couples but it can be done and some cities make it harder than others, you'll have to find out what the laws are in your town, just keep reminding yourselves its only short tern until you get ahead and on your feet. Then you can get into something bigger and more comfortable. Who knows, maybe you will like the van!

Of course there are reasons it may not for you specifically, but hopefully it gives you ideas to start thinking outside of the box.

Welcome aboard the forum Carolyn.
This is a great place to get info on how to live on less and fix up a van or RV or whatever to be a comfortable home.

I just thought I'd mention that the bike I referred to in my OP is a bicycle, not a motorcycle.
Thank you, Everyone, for the welcome . I check out this forum more often than Facebook now. [emoji2]

I just want to say that this forum is much more addictive than the other forums I used to spend my time on !!
