Anyone know where to get stick pins for mounting foam board?

If you not familiar with them, they are pins mounted on a small square with peal and stick backing.

You stick them where you want to place foam board and then press the foam board on them and then put a cap on the end of the pin that extrudes through the board and bend it over.

That way you can put foam board up without using spray adhesive.

I held my foam board in place with duct tape.

I'm not sure the tiny bit of adhesive would stand up to the stresses of travel under that much weight.

Maybe 3M VHB . . .

They stick really good!

It's like a 2in x 2in square

What weight? It's lightweight foam board insulation.

I've seen them used for a van and they worked really well.

Just don't know where to get them.

Unless one intended to leave the foam board exposed, paneling would hold it in place.

There are many techniques for innermost lining, including just skinning with adhesive, foamie+canvas, FRP etc

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I just purchased a box of 100 stick pins and washers from Amazon and I have a few questions.

The instructions included in the product description stated not to use them on surfaces that reach 145 degrees F. I assume the adhesive loses coherency at this point and fails. Since I will only be using the pins to hold the panels in place while expanding foam cures I don't expect it to be an issue.

My first question is of course, has adhesive failure of the stick pins caused any problems in your builds?

Did you use the pins exclusively for securing the insulation, or was another adhesive applied?

When bending the insulation panels into a curved cavity, what was the spacing and placement of the pins you found best?

"My first question is of course, has adhesive failure of the stick pins caused any problems in your builds?"

no, never used them

"Did you use the pins exclusively for securing the insulation, or was another adhesive applied?"

no , no adhesive ever

"When bending the insulation panels into a curved cavity, what was the spacing and placement of the pins you found best?"

again never used

I never used any type of glue, pins etc. the outer wall holds it all in place.

"Since I will only be using the pins to hold the panels in place while expanding foam cures "

now the expanding foam I would never use. I have seen it rot sheet metal it comes in contact with. also once the outer skin is penetrated it holds water like a sponge.

I always cut the foam to fit tight and then us the interior walls to hold it in place. work for me.
