Thank you for the heads up about divulging my location/intentions...you're absolutely right I need to be more careful!

In response to some of the posts:

I checked one of the garages today, clearance is 8'2". Since I don't have my van yet, I'll have to measure it once I purchase it.

No, garage is not patrolled but it is in a very nice new garage in a decent area of town.

On a side note, I also got a part time job today cleaning office buildings in the evenings after my classes. I'm hoping this will turn out to be a viable source of parking opportunities. I had to make up a story for my employer about living in an RV park temporarily but they seem like very kind people so who knows where this might lead. I do know that several if their contracts are 24hr medical/pharmacy bldgs so that might be a good alternative to the garage since the security guards or the police could get used to seeing my van there and think I'm cleaning plus the fact they're open 24hrs anyway.

So much to get figured out before August 30th!! In the meantime, the job starts Monday so I'm gonna have to fork out $25.65/nite for a campground until I can get my van on the 30th...ugh! I'm working just to pay for camping fees...seems counterproductive doesn't it? But I have to or I couldn't get the job.

Again thanks for everyone's input and feedback!

Monthly fees are a good idea. A campground might be safer, too. At the risk of sounding sexist, I will say that a lone woman is going to look like an easier mark to criminals than a lone man if they think she might be vulnerable.

True Jean, but they'll think differently when they're met with the cold brushed steel barrel of my .44mag revolver or my baseball bat, either one or maybe both!! lol
Seriously tho, I'm acutely aware of my physical limitations since I'm of the "gentler gender" (lol no one who's ever met me would use those words to describe me but you get my meaning) Without an "equalizer", I'm no match for a couple of thugs and I know this, hence the acquisition years ago of my leeetle friend Mr Desert Eagle!

I'll only be camping bcuz I have to start the job bfor I can get my van. After that I'll be stealth van dwelling in a leased parking space I'm in the midst of securing.

Ok. But be aware that thugs have guns, too, and that they have the advantage of picking the time and the place. They will have whatever weapon they choose to use ready while you will have to dig your own out of wherever you are keeping it after you recover from the initial few seconds of shock.

I hope i wasn't scaring readers, morgantown is very low crime rate city, just a couple small areas to avoid :)

When i lived there i didn't ever even lock my doors even away from the apt. In baltimore however that's likely to get your car robbed on principal lol
