Hi nomad friends!  I've recently decided I'm tired of the rat race and am slowly planning my escape.  I have yet to take a trip in my van (2016 Kia Sedona) but I'm so excited for the possibilities!  I have kids still living at home, 20, 15 and 13, so I know I won't be full-timing anytime soon but I am desperate to get out on the road to take an adventure.  I'm planning to do a few test runs this summer to see what I really think of the van life and to decide if I could really live this lifestyle.  I've been a 911 dispatcher for more years than I'd like to admit and I feel like the day will come where I can no longer handle the stress of the job, and when that happens...well...minivan!  Just curious, anyone else on here like me...early 40's kids at home, seriously considering this lifestyle?  I'd love to hear how others started this life.  My biggest fear is that my kids need to bounce back home once they're grown and mama don't have a place for them to stay!  Then what???  Looking forward to reading y'all's stories!

Hi flamingofreeway,

Your three children will most likely LOVE *Homeschooling* which is how educating... was done for most of human history on this planet.
You will get to drive them to endless NATURE environments, plus
they can learn about US History, & culture, & just about any other subjects by observing & Experiencing... for themselves, safe with you...
Homeschooling-by-immersion... the way to go ;) Have Fun...

Welcome to the forums..

I saw and spoke with a few families at this years RTR in Quartzsite that had children. As I recall they have jobs that allow them to work on the road remotely and home school the kids..
