Southwest Missouri/Northern Arkansas

I've looked up a couple of place in the Mark Twain National Park but I was wondering if there were some places that you'll might know that would fabulous to visit!

Here is something I wish I had known over a year ago when I was looking for spots in that area: Missouri's Conservation Areas usually allow free primitive camping. And free / dispersed camping was not that easy to find back when I was looking.

Without knowing it at the time, I did camp for a few days at a small but wonderful place: Fourche Creek CA (conservation area). The road in was graveled as I recall but very narrow with trees all around. My rig is 9.5' tall but made it fine. Primitive sites but I think there was a vault toilet in a section not too far from where I was.

We've camped in few wildlife conservation areas in the midwest and really liked them. Often it's hard to find the correct information but Missouri has made it very easy with this map - http://mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/outdoor-recreation/camping  

  You could camp for a long time without repeating a campsite .Free camping at it's best!

WriterMs - I think that you didn't find it on the website because it isn't there! :-D I started poking around to see where we had camped in Missouri and I wasn't finding much on the website so I googled Missouri Department of Conservation camping. I was very surprised when the map with all the campsites popped up. I had no idea that there were so many!

Government sites seem to be designed by people with brains that work differently from the rest of us. I have a hard time with a lot of them.
