Hello all,

My name is Matt, and I bought a Ford Transit Connect 2012 about a month ago for $6300. I've been documenting the process of converting it to meet my needs (bench that converts to a bed, solar, small fridge, sink, etc). I will be ready to move in within a week! I work full-time in Southern California, and will be keeping my job while living in a van. Vandwelling is a way for me to save money, live simply, minimize my possessions, force me to go outside and not stay at home, and easily go on weekend trips. If interested, feel free to check my out on instagram and youtube (name is thefreedomvan).

Cheers!

Welcome to the CRVL Forum :)

I'm sure that as you build your rig and photo/video document the project,  you will be an inspiring example to others who come here after hearing about the growing interest in living in a converted Van.   I know a whole bunch of people who are coming to me now where only a few years ago many of them thought I was crazy.

Times change.

My Dad once told me of his learning to work on small import cars back in the late 50's when there was a boom
of the things.   His buddies laughed at him as they were driving Muscle Cars in the days of CHEAP Gas.  (.18 cent a gallon)   But within a few years they were married,  having families,  selling the "HEMI" and coming to my Dad with those used 50's Import Cars that got 35 to 40 miles to the gallon.  (with one liter engines)

The BOOM today seems to be going the route you are pursuing so  keep us informed !

My site below for Van Conversion dates back to what I was doing in the mid 80's.  The Big Van Fad was in the later 60's (when I was crawling on my hands and knees) into the 70's.    Those Vans were for show and fun
but I don't think anyone was seriously living in them full time unless they were traveling somewhere.

All the best with your project.

Thanks for the welcome! I got 27 mpg on my last tank, its awesome! I definitely hope that I am able to inspire others :)
