That would be true, tho it’s an island you can only get onto from Corpus Christi, I believe, so one would be turning south with access roads then on the left.
“Beach side” would be more accurate, tho I think there may be some camping allowed around Bird Island road.
I have driven down there, but don’t know if people were parked for the day or staying awhile.
