Slow internet and/or using less data

I keep my phone in airplane mode until I want to use it. Anyone who calls can leave a message. If they won't, then they don't want that badly to talk to me. Also, I don't answer or return calls with no caller ID.

The irony with slow service is that more populated areas have more cell bandwidth, but there are also more people using it, so it bogs down, just like traffic on a highway. I've had some surprisingly fast cellular Internet out in the boonies—when I can get a signal.

I have a friend and member here that swears by Opera and facebook lite

I am on cellular, so keep close track of my data usage.....I find that Opera uses 1/2 the data that the other browsers use, dont know why. I also have the ad blockers going, That helps

Opera runs the http traffic through an optimizing proxy.  It strips out bloat and reduces image quality to the level you specify.

I run graphics in opera at "low quality".  Still looks good enough on a phone and saves up to 90% of bandwidth in my experience.
Recent Chrome browsers on mobile also have a data savings option.  I use it but it is not as extreme as opera's.
