Four days until our next supermoon, I think they are calling it a blueblood moon, is going to eclipse as well. I have my 8" Starblast ready to go!
Will definitely keep it stashed in the bus, any sky watchers out there?

Cheroki,

Yep. My astronomical interests have been lying fallow for a very long time, but I have had a telescope in one form or another since I was about 10. My current instrument is a Celestron SPC-8 on an old, wooden equatorial mount. I am SO longing to get back out to dark skies to blow the cobwebs out of the tube and re-visit some of my old deep sky friends.

The event at the end of the month is a Blood Moon, a Blue Moon and a Super Moon. A very cool trifecta!

I'll be heads up on this one, yessir. With any luck, I'll be off of the ratway and onto the highway in my new and greatly improved lifestyle. If not, I'll be on my back deck with a cup of hot cocoa! :)

Nice to meet you NoMad, it looks to be the most awesome show praying for no clouds, lol. I currently stay pretty rural at present and have an awesome skyview for being not too far from a big city
Cannot wait. Also saw your post about trying the gypsy lifestyle, best of luck with that!!! B

I'm in a good spot for it and I'll get up a little earlier for work than usual. Super blue blood moon...what a mouthful

... how frequent.  I'll have to go a googlin'.

Best info I can find says all of these phenomena happening at the same time is once every 265 years.

... But ...

Nearly all of the places I Googled for this info had some errant definitions in them, and caused some lost faith in the rest of their content.  So ... ?

Nice to Meet you Dune, you are correct, I think I read like 265 as well, and yes that is a mouthful and they wont see one again for a long time, lol. Should be an enjoyable show depending on the clouds. Hope that we are blessed with a beautiful morning, B

Hey Cheroki.... the brightest and the most stars I've ever seen in my life was in the Texas Hill Country.

I just can't wait to travel through there again.

I sent you a PM.

I would have loved to have made the trip, but unfortunately at this time elbows deep in getting my rig together. Hoping to be done between now and the next RTR which I intend to be at for sure! Thnx for the invite for sure and we will meet somewhere on the trail at some point for sure my friend, B. PEACE
