Hey there.

By chance I happen to be camping in las cienegas and there is a gathering sponsored by sisters on the fly. I think I will wander over as the afternoon gets cooler and see if I can meet some folks and learn about them.

I wondered if anyone on crvl is a member and what your experience has been.

I see a bunch of cool old trailers over there and I at first thought it was a scamp owners meet.   But no. Sotf stands for sisters on the fly. Not scamp owners something something. ?

My wife is totally into the Glamping thing, and would probably join them, but she's just not the joining type.

Another group having a camp-out, is the TearJerkers...an International Tear-Drop Owners Camping group. (we were members)

They're hosting their 22nd annual Dam Gathering on Lake Shasta, April 30th - May 3rd.

If you're anywhere Northern California, it's a great place to meet folks who are really into simple camping and campers...and they're alotta fun too!

I joined Sisters on the Fly several years ago (#1289). I attended several gatherings too. From my experience they are a friendly, fun-loving group. The couple of overnighters that I went to reminded me of a slumber party. They aren't a good fit for me, but they might be just the group for you.

Thanks to all for your experiences. I went by briefly this morning to say hi and they do seem to be open to talking about what they do and who they are. The founding sister was there  lots of very attractively painted trailers. I guess they were started by women who loved to fish and ride horses and so thas the origin of the cowgirl theme.

I did not get a sense on brief introduction that there were fulltimers amongst them.

Nancy

I looked them up this morning because of this thread. One if their few rules is no animals. If fulltiming with animals that would make it difficult to fully engage. But that might not be such a bad thing. When I looked at their upcoming trip it was posted they are staying at a $38 a night campground with free shuttle service to the local casino. I recently stayed at that casino for 2 nights with no issues whatsoever, for free. The casino parking lot was HUGE.

Trips sound enjoyable but more expensive than I can afford right now. Maybe sometime as going to a ranch has always interested me. I'll keep them on my radar for a future time. Thanks for posting.
