I'm having some trouble finding a way to run a hose from my sink drain. The only parts I've found to hook anything up to my sink are hard plastic plumbing tubes, like if you were to plumb a sink in a house.
I've seen guys with hoses draining their sink.. so why am I having such a hard time finding something that will actually screw into the threads of my sink drain?
It's a 1 1/2" drain.
Trying to find a fitting from that to a 3/8 outer diameter hose.

Why so small ?......that's a huge reduction...that will have a hard time draining.................I used a 1.5" shop vac hose attached to the (shortened) drain tailpiece with a hose clamp

doug

A drain for a bathroom sink is much smaller. Any hardware store will have them. You don't need the type with the pop up valve. They sell rubber plugs to close the opening.

Get a flexible drain connection.  Most places have them.

Run that into a large jug.

Couldn't make it happen at Lowes but Home Depot had it..
1 1/2" union joint, 1 1/2 to 3/8 adapter bushing, and one 3/8 female to 3/8" male adapter. Hose screws right in.
The only downside to this was that the 1 1/2 to 3/8" adapter will catch a lot of water and debris by the way it is built. (pictured)
I guess I'll just be stuck cleaning it regularly.

I considered that but all the groves in the hose makes me think it will trap a lot of liquid (and smell).

I didn't want to drill a 1/12" hole into the bottom of my van.
I considered this reduction in diameter might cause a drainage problem, but I don't plan on pouring any solid objects down the drain, plus I have a drain strainer thingy.

Yeah that looks to me like it'll clog up every time you think about using the sink. But if so you can do it differently later.

I thought we already went through this?

Nobody wants to step in a puddle of grey water.  It also makes security tend to move dwellers along.

I thought the last word was "it iz alright to be az holez"

According to some, but not the majority of us.   ;)

Still trying to grasp the concept of a water drain smaller than a half inch. Take forever to drain....... wouldn't take much to clog it.
