I am still deciding how I might insulate a Toyota Sienna Minivan. I am more concerned about the heat than the cold. I want to know if anyone has the experience of converting the sunroof into some sort of fan. I now know you can not carve a hole in the roof of this type of vehicle but since there will likely already be a sun roof I would want to utilize it. When the weather is cold it would need to be covered/closed. Does anyone here have experience with this? I need ideas. Also what would be the best insulation for a minivan..I know it will be a challenge to keep cool. A big challenge. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

I cut a hole in the roof of my Ford Windstar minivan and installed a MaxxAir fan.

With a sunroof the easy way would be to get some aluminum about as thick as the glass and cut it to fit in the sunroof opening.  Close the sunroof glass onto the aluminum to hold it in place.  Get 3 or 4 computer fans to mount in the aluminum.  Switches to turn on the fans individually gives speed control.  A wire down to a cigarette lighter socket could power it.
There may be such a product available already assembled.

Instead of 3 computer fans a 14 inch vent fan might work going through the sunroof hole.

I avoid cold places  My opinion is that cardboard in the windows is all the insulation I need.
