I'm in the process of selling my house with all of it's contents. Does anyone have any suggestions about the easiest way to sell stuff?

Welcome to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Have an estate sale post GOOD and many signs ,make offer everything must go!

Anything you can't sell, donate to a thrift store (charity based one like good will or cancer or animal shelter run) and get a receipt for tax deduction.

call all your local consignment shops and see what they'll take to sell, If no bites I would then call all the local storage centers and ask them who handles the auctions on storage units when people don't pay their bills. Get ahold of the auctioneer and tell them they can have a special auction at your place where their clients can bid and see everything before they bid which they are not allowed to do on storage auctions if you don't get any bids on that then your stuff is worthless and you should just go ahead and give it away to a non-profit however the tax deduction only works if you are filing a schedule A with a deductible amount that is greater than $24,000 for a couple the tax law changed a few years back. you can also hold the garage sales and advertise for free in Craigslist and nextdoor.com. take anything that's offered is better than hauling it over to the nonprofit.

If you want easiest for you, lock everything you are keeping in one room and have an auction company conduct an estate sale. They do all the work, so they get a good cut. But its easieat for you.

If you want all the proceeds, prepare to roll up your sleeves and get to work. If you have plenty of time, list things in lots on a local Facebook group. List bigger ticket items on Facebook marketplace. Or have garage sales until youre ready to gice the rest to a thrift store.

Its so nice to have less stuff! Just wait and see :)

Maybe someone would love to buy it with "all the contents"  ???

Lots of good ideas posted here.

I would urge you to keep you intentions to yourself at this point where you live.  There are those who would want to "cherry pick" the good stuff out of you goods for as cheap as they could get them.

If you sell all of the contents as a package,  remember 80% of the value is usually derived from 20% of the goods.  I'd follow the suggestion to put the most valued items in a room and lock it so that no one could get in. (pull down the blinds and draw the curtains closed too or throw old bed sheets over those items.  If asked about the contents of that room just explain you are keeping that stuff to go into your camper van and no that's you final answer if they keep pestering you about it ask them to leave)

There are some sellers who will divide various things into "Lots".   Outdoor or Patio furniture etc.   Kitchen goods.   Refrigerator, Stove, Microwave, Washer/Dryer etc.   Shop tools & equipment.  Etc.  If this is to be auctioned, then it needs to be well advertised for some time and the name of the Auctioneer NOT disclosed.  The auctioneer not  to have any contact with any of the bidders.  In this you may have your best chance at getting YOUR money's worth.

Anything left over could be donated if you have the income posture such that you could write it off your taxes as a charitable donation.

I would suggest if you have any items that clearly have some value to take good photos, do some research on eBay as to recent selling prices and advertise on eBay or other appropriate online sales platforms. You will more likely find a buyer who values what you are selling enough to pay a fair price. Figure out shipping cost ahead of time, I usually build it into the price and then offer "free shipping" as an incentive to the buyer.

Only sell the things that you don't mind giving away at a garage sale or the like. People will nickel and dime you to death even if something clearly has higher value.

I agree on eBay. Etsy, Craigslist or Next Door. Don’t let people rip you off. A lot are going to resell. Take your time.

You should know what you have as far as appx values. Used furnishings don't generally bring very much.

I have watched people sit outside all day, or for a couple days and deal with crowds/bargainers... Then they barely make day wages afterwards.
Not for me. Whenever we move if we don't really want it we just give whatever away to charities that will come and pick it up or I make runs to Goodwill etc..
Can't really be bothered with all the fuss over "stuff". As long as it "gets gone" that's what counts.

Actually a good time to sell furnishings. People sell everything and find there is a backlog to new furniture and will pay basically what you ask. Neighbor selling and finding this to be the case here.

my personal way.
ALL I WANT in the camper.
Anything kid wants is hers point blank.

I am then calling an estate sale company and handing it all to them.

No muss no fuss, some bucks in the pocket and I am outta here.

Exit the house life will not take a toll on me. I won't allow it so I am taking the easy peasy way out.

not sold, whatever estate sale people say, donate or landfill..yup done deal and over and out :)

but this is me

Roamer, your answer and mine were directly to the point of the OP's question -- the easiest way. However, the OP has not logged in since that first post. Must be busy getting rid of stuff LOL

I tell ya I want out and fast.   I won't be one to take a year or 2 to care if I get $200 for my sofa or the value I put on it at $500 HAHA

We all know what we spent in life 'for our stuff' is never a money giver back when sold used and old and out of date and more (unless we got Picasso on the wall or some 'rare coins' and more) and our useless crap is just that.

I loved what I bought but in the end no one else whats my crap LOL   so what little I get I am gonna splurge on my forward lifestyle..........I am SO outta here when I get that second to do so :) Dump and run!!!!
