Hello Members,
I'm new to the forum but not new to the Cheap RV Living web site. Been following Bob's blog and YouTube videos for some time. (As well as others) I'm not yet a full time RVer but interested and looking into the lifestyle. Might do it in 2017.

I've applied for a seasonal job for 2017 and I have a phone interview coming up this week. The company charges weekly for an rv site plus electric and propane. From my research it looks like a lot of these seasonal jobs are at or near minimum wage. After I compare wages less the rv site expenses and food cost there won't be much left at the end of each week. I need to continue to work for about 3 more years so these seasonal jobs must support me.

So, I realize this isn't a get rich way of living but just looking for some feedback from some of you who has lived this lifestyle. Your thoughts. Do you look to break even each month?

Thank you

Keep on looking!

Are you looking at the Workampers website - https://www.workamper.com

If you're not, you need to be.

Yes, some luxury RV resorts think that they can get away with charging their employees a reduced rate for their site. But unless you're making a whole lot more than minimum wage, you'd be further off taking a regular job somewhere and staying at a less expensive campground.

Most who do work camping expect to have free site, some amenities either free or very cheap and by not paying for rent and being further out in nature where you're not spending your money frequently, can actually walk away at the end of the season with several thousand dollars in their pocket/bank.

The whole point is not to just 'get along' or break even. The point is to get ahead!

That is just one place.
There are different deals out there .
Almost as many as there are places , keep looking till you find one that is a good fit for what you need .

I try to take the ones that give free site and pay for all hours , and even some bennies like free meals and propane , maybe a discount in the CG store .

Some of the Nat Park concessionaires also offer real cheap dorm living as well as company meals in the cafeteria.

You can also look at workampingjobs.com , coolworks , Christmas tree , pumpkin , fireworks lots.
I've seen places that pay you to hang Christmas decorations.
Any tourist town (especially next to Nat Parks) hire temp seasonal employees in lots of different type jobs.

Sixteen tons and what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt. St. Peter don't you call me cause I can't go. I owe my soul to the company store. Tennessee Ernie Ford

Nothing new about employers trying to have people work for free. Maybe give them a counter offer. We somehow often undervalue our own worth. If they can't find a dummy, yours may be the best offer they get.

You want to work for a National Forest Concessionaire because they almost always pay for every hour worked and give you a free site.
