Scared but excited!!!!

Hello my name is Tommy my dog's name is pippa.We have decided to start our full time journey at the rubber tramp rendezvous .We are in need of a used truck camper I have a 3500 GMC .We live in Pennsylvania and I'd be willing to sleep in the truck to get a good deal for a quality product from someone in quartsite.az.Trying not to make too many expensive rookie mistakes can anyone recommend a dealer vendor or another reputable place to purchase a camper I was thinking we would get a better price and better selection in quartsite .Any help, hook up ,or contacts would be greatly appreciated thank you and I look forward to this new journey .

Hi Tommy N Pippa,

I completely relate to your goal of not making too many rookie mistakes as that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid.  I know me and I've jumped full into a project only to realize I didn't quite know what I was doing.  I also don't want to spend money and then find out that this isn't really what I want (though, I'm pretty sure it is).  So I'm starting out with my Honda Element and my dog Bodhi at the RTR.  If that goes as I think it will, I'll meander around for a while and consider looking for a van, and then some work in the spring.  It sounds to me like your plan is a good one and I wish you many happy miles!

Private party is the cheapest way to go and talking to the owner can give good info, especially if you don't take everything at face value. Craigslist also has scammers, but finding a well maintained older camper is possible. It does take time. What is your budget?
