Ya but don't you know ? "pipelines" are BAD ! I read it in the media !

This one guy and his powerful "friends" recently "invested" and lost practically all our kids money in "green" energies, but correct me if I am wrong, NONE of the completely wasted money went towards ANYTHING related to the ALREADY KNOWN, ALREADY PROVEN, ALREADY WORKING and EXISTING fuels.

What a shame we have absolute DOLTS trying to "fix" the problem by stuffing money in their pockets. This "problem" could be addressed, but they really do not want to because they have people convinced we are running out and they should send more money in to help them fix it. (not politics here, just truth)

Is there a fossil fuel "investment" here I missed from this recent list of wasted money?

Yes, and your point is............................What ?

Perhaps you missed... I'll go slow.....

Simran pointed out that we HAVE fuel we just waste... (Everywhere)
Stated he was not a fan of pipelines....
Seemed to ask what we are supposed to do about it.....

We could do a LOT if certain people wanted to (in this case specifically, convert more equipment to NG)....

And with the POINTED reference, its certainly NOT like we have not BLOWN enough tax money to do so on far LESS true potentials (rainbow and unicorn dreams actually).

I'm afraid if you got lost on that, I wouldn't be able to help you.

Those "investments" DID however create a lot of new job opportunities I guess.... Someone has to work for the superfund cleanup of hazardous wastes.

I work on the edge of the Bakken. They are burning off so much natural gas this place is lit up like a Christmas tree at night. You can identify it from space at night there are so many fires burning. Problem is not near enough pipelines to transport it where it can be put to good use. It's a shame really. I'm not pro pipeline but this IS a real conundrum here. What to do . . .I mean really!?!?!?!?
Build processing plants there, and ship it by rail.

Disclaimer: This is merely one mans opinion. I am simply sharing my thoughts on the state of, not only America, but the world. All I ask is this: before you shoot the messenger; read the whole post.

I am all about Green energy; I really am but we need to look at the broader scope of things.
1) We need to get the best mileage we can with the vehicles that burn fossil fuels.
2) We need to develops the infrastructure to start using natural gas in our fossil fuel vehicles. It is cleaner than our oil based fuels.
3) We need to figure out how to get this natural gas where it can be utilized without ruining our ground water. The hubbub with the pipeline going through Nebraska is this: the largest freshwater aquifer (Ogalala aquifer) in North America is under the sand hills of Nebraska. It is insane to think they can run a fuel pipeline through that country and never contaminate that aquifer.
4)We need to continue the development of electric vehicles. Maybe by the time my grandsons can drive 25% of all vehicles on the road will electric vehicles that charge their own batteries. I don't think that is too much to ask.
5) we need to figure out how to make coal burn cleaner.
6) At the same time we do the above things we need to develop Green alternatives to our fossil fuel usage; ie solar & wind. I put my money on solar before wind. Wind has to many moving parts; to much maintenance in an already cruel environment.
The transition would be a long one no doubt. It has to be. Maybe 50 maybe 75 years. We simply cannot go from a petroleum fuel based system to a green system any faster than that. That is exactly why we should have gotten started in earnest 20 years ago. We are at least that far behind IMHO.

There are many things that can be added to this but this thread was a discussion about burning fuel and better fuel economy.

well were a bit off topic here but...

you forgot all the horrible chemicals fraking uses being dumped into ground water, tap water bursting into flame, weird cancers showing up wherever fracking is being done...

nuclear (for electric or hydrogen) leads to problems like they got in japan right now (and showing up all over the coasts of California, Washington, and Alaska)

solar relies on rare earths and soon we'll run out of that too...

Coal is mostly carbon (creating green house effect) and there really isnt such a thing as "clean coal"

so it seems like every type of energy production has draw backs...
so I dont know... maybe we should go back to horses? (if we can control the methane... maybe feed em low potassium grasses?)
