Have been reading about the DELOURME INREACH devices. basically its a satellite email modem for your cellphone or tablet. There are software connections for IPHONE, IPAD, ANDROID PHONE, and TABLETS to connect via bluetooth.

Then you can send a message. Cost is $100 per year subscription, plus the one time cost of the device of $250. Email is two way, so you can recieve messages. Rumers are that it is not 100% technology, but it can work well most of the time.

Reviews say you should not depend on it, but use it to suppliment an ELB (Emergency Beacon), and your cellphone, and your deep knowledge of your own location and wilderness skills. Also to suppliment your Ham Radio radios and skills.

there are two other solutions. One called SPOT and the other called YELLOWBRICK3 but SPOT is one way, and YELLOWBRICK3 is very expensive.

$100 per year is cheap insurance for a possible satellite connection, in addition to your other communication strategies.

P.S. think you are allowed ten emails a month. $1.50 for each additional email.
