Hello! My name is Sara and I'm about to become a bona fide Saddle Tramp. If I can, I will purchase a cart/wagon to begin with, but ultimately, my desire is to just ride. I have 3 horses. I am wondering if we would be welcome at Rubber Tramp camps. For camaraderie and expertise in this way of life. I have walked out of the matrix and it tried to utterly destroy me. I will not go back and find another position on the monopoly board and spend gobs of funny money on utilities and the comforts of bondage. Since my horses are my lifes' blood, this is what I've decided to do.

My internet access is sporadic at this point. Any input is greatly appreciated. I shall return.

Peace, love, groovy to all and to all ... a good life!

Sara, I can't think of anyone I would rather have at the RTR than you and your horses!! Vandwelling isn't about a vehicle, it is about an attitude, and I think we can all learn from you!!

I really hope to see you in January!!! Bob

I would love to meet you Sara, at the RTR or anywhere....do you have a blog?
I know little to nothing about horses but have always thought a horse/donkey/mule powered wagon/cart/camper would be perfect for a nice slow, natural and very close to the earth lifestyle....
I would love to learn more from you...
Glad you are with us...welcome to the family...
Bri

Wow...you will have so much to teach us as you overcome the obstacles you'll meet. Glad to have you here and cheer you on.
Rae

that sounds like a dream come true to me!! horses are wonderful transportation and company good luck and congrats!

Welcome! It's nice to meet you. I would think that horses would be welcome. They are wonderful animals and without them, how would the west have been tamed? The pioneers were sort of "vandwellers" and their horsepower didn't come from a V-8.

If anything, you are the purist! Take care and have fun!

Brad aka V.T.

I have enjoyed very much meeting the good folks at the RTR over the past 2 years.

I know you would be absolutely welcomed at the RTR,

It is the most diverse group of awesome folks you will ever meet.
The best part for me is there is no pre - judgment of any lifestyle within the group or otherwise.

You will not be disappointed with the visit..

Can you tell ...... I love it

Last year I had trouble getting there at the beginning, but it still was an awesome time..

here is a blog of a guy that seems to be doing what you are doing link

Putz

Welcome, Sara!

Bob

P.S. I have researched modern Vardos on the Internet, and most would make a very comfortable home on wheels. 3 horsepower and alternate fuel (hay, oats) would give quite economical miles per fill up.

Hi Sara, welcome! Some of the natl forests have specific horse trails and camps, other dont allow them, so a little research might be prudent. Id love to run into you or someone who is doing what you would like to do.

What amazing responses! Thank you so much for the welcome. Where to begin ...?

I walked out of the matrix in March, at which point it tried to utterly destroy me. I had to ask myself: do I find another position on the monopoly board, spend gobs of funny money on utilities, gas and the comforts of bondage ... or do I trade in the old paradigm for the loves of my life, which are my horses and our sense of freedom? I chose my hearts' desire. My purpose is to commune with nature, provide for my horses through Earths' abundance and blaze the way for healing; not only humans, but the Earth as well. I've learned a few things along the way and would be privileged to share them with those who can hear.

As for money ... that is not my value system, although I realize it is a necessary tool in what is left of the world as we know it. The lack does not scare me. There are other assets more powerful than this.

I assure you that we will be well-prepared before we leave with the proper equipment to sustain my animals. There is nothing more important to me than their health and well-being.

I realize it's late in the year. I've had some set-backs in my preparation time and might not be able to begin this journey until Spring. The passing days will reveal our time-line. While we wait, we train and practice locally for the real deal.

Pondputz ... thank you for the link. This is a person after my own heart. Much obliged.

I imagine there are many gathering places for your "tribe." I wonder if someone might explain to me where I would find some of your enclaves. I will be heading out from New Mexico.

Thank you again for your splendid replies!

iMors

You are definitely a person after my own heart. At one time I had concidered doing the same thing, and still occasionally do. I worked with horses for years and they're still my friends. Cars a only a hundred years old, wagons are thousands of years old. Very glad you are here. You also belong here. Welcome iMors!

When I read your intro, I remembered seeing Modern day Gypsies and Hippies in Europe, they travelled around with little painted wagons pulled by Goats or small ponies. If they can do it over there, you should be able to do it in the US or Canada!

Keep a low profile or some animal activists group or another will make you life miserable!

Welcome Sara. You may also want to look at some states which give away free land to people willing to move there or at least set up base. Since your horses need land, it may be a good alternative. At least all you gotta do is get a small home to plop on it and it's yours. Good luck with the travels.
