I am planning on buying a used RV and living in it for at least 4 or 5 years. But I have been hearing that RV parks won't let you park if your RV is over 10 years old.

Should I be worried about getting an older model that might loss its ability to park in an RV lot? I've seen some 2004-2005 Keystone TT that i really like, but those would only give me 2 or 3 more years of parking ability in a park.

Has anyone encountered this or is it mostly a myth?

It is true that some RV parks have a 'ten year' rule, particularly as it applies to longer term parking. However, there are so many better places to park than in RV parks, e.g., NFS, NP, COE, BLM, state parks, county parks or just boondocking. I stay in an RV park overnight if I need WiFi, laundry facilities, etc. If your rig looks good and is well maintained, you probably won't get turned away. Personally, I've tried to avoid ten-year-rule parks, even when my RV was newer. Avoid 'RV Resorts'. I've never been denied.

You'll probably find that those RV parks that are the most exclusive.. also charge the most.

For every park that rejects you there will be 10 that are delighted to do with business with you. I think it is a non-issue.
Bob

We started out with an old Dodge Xplorer and moved up to an 1882 Sunline - then to a brand new TT 2 years ago. We were never rejected at any CG. Some Resorts that cater to the wealthy in million dollar Class-A's and C's will have age restrictions, but the other 95% of places do not. And it's not really the age I was told, it's the condition of the rig that's most important. Few people would want to be next to someone in a filthy rusty old RV with sheets tacked in the dirty windows, cardboard taped in broken windows, smelly leaky sewer pipe etc.

Was that a 4 or 6 horse hitch on that 1882 sunline wagon?
