Speaking of RTR... is there a date for next year's yet... and how early can someone show up to avoid the bigger crowd and leave early?

The RTR will be from January 11 - 21 2018. You can show up anytime that you want. It's all BLM short term camping open to the general public and is not reservable by Bob or anyone else. Just remember that the stay on BLM land is 14 days. If you want a more low-key experience arrive a few days before the start of the RTR. People will be there already but since there are no seminars it's more conducive to relaxing and visiting.
