I'd like to see how they get in and out of that...

Honda Element is/was popular for camping out of.

They have a ladder. I believe the company that make that one I believe is Italian. There is also Eezi Awn Series 3 and Cascadia CVT which I own one of those.

Seems to be quite an aerodynamic drag. On dry, warm nights one can simply throw their pad on the roof and sleep under the stars. In cold, humid or rainy weather why not just sleep inside the vehicle? Some may want to get something like this for the unusual factor but that also makes an otherwise ordinary SUV stand out.

A strange but true roof tent tale:

I have an Autohome Maggiolina AirLand in extra long.  Possibly the same unit as the advert.  It is Autohomes's most aero roof tent.

I gained 2 mpg over stock when the roof was installed on my van.  When the roof tent was being installed on my roof racks I asked how much of a mileage hit most folks have when the RT is installed.  The fellow replied with around 1-2 mpg loss being common.  But then he replied that some experience a mileage improvement.  I replied with "like that is going to happen to me"...
