I'm having a leaking issue and I think it's because whatever sealant they used in the rain gutters has finally broken down. Does anyone know is this some sort of gasket? It doesn't look like any sort of silicone as the edges are too clean and it's flat. I just need to know what to purchase to reseal it. It's the wavy beige stripe I'm talking about. That's what's laying in the bottom of the majority of my gutter.

Cherry - it's hard to tell from the photo, but it doesn't look the same as on our Falcon. Could it possibly be a rubber strip - a rubber seal?

It may not be original installation, as the tops I have seen have seals beneath them, and they do not show from the outside. If you want to try a patch job, any silicone sealer for outside use would work - put some on the trouble spot and see if it fixes the leak.

I bought silicone yesterday (before I got on a ladder to have a look, of course) I thought about just running some silicone in there but I want to level the gutters back out since that could be some of the issue - water piling up0 because it's not moving off the top fast enough. I want to just pull whatever this is out and get some self-leveling sealant but I'm a little afraid to go tugging on this without really knowing what it is. Also some of the problem is that I don't exactly know where the leak into the van is. I know where it's coming out in the van but it could be leaking from anywhere above that (which is about 3 ft of fiberglass)
If you actually find the leak, a much better option than silicone is gutter and flashing sealant. It's butyl based, so it's quite gooey ( wear latex or rubber gloves if you spread it with your fingers.) comes in grey, white and clear. Sold at home depot or lowe's in the roofing section. Worked wonders on my bus when I removed the origional roof mount antennas. It's a bit pricey at $8 a tube, but the problem you describe is exactly what it was made for, and it's paintable if the color doesn't match.

I ended up running the silicone into all of the gutters and smoothing it out and shoving it into the cracks with my fingers. Use clear silicone so while it may not be a perma-fix it did indeed stop the leak I had by my bed.
