Renogy has 100W Poly $99 & free s/h - Is this a good choice for the roof of a van? I was thinking two or three of the 100W panels -
If the van has rails - what else do I need? Is drilling a hole in the (new) van the only way to go?
They will connect to a goal zero 1000 and I will use power for phone, laptop, lantern, fan ... I guess I want to add a Fantastic fan so there will need to be a hole cut  :dodgy: anyway.

I am still in the planning and learning stage - hoping to go out on trial run around January.

Thanks!

Amazon has 100watt Renogy poly's for $118.74 with free s and h.  You are getting a good price for $99.

If the van already has rails you may be able to attach the panels to the rails with L brackets, it depends on the rails. I'm sure you could find something at a hardware store to make it work.  Not having a picture of the rails makes it hard to say.

You'll likely need the additional wiring with MC4 connectors to go through the roof down to your solar controller, then from the controller to the battery. (I'd use MPPT for 3 panels, required if being series wired...)

Amazon or Renogy sells additional wire and connectors. Probably 10 AWG is good for the panels then #8 or #6 to the battery, depends on what the controller will accept. You will need a combiner of some sort to link all the + and - wires from each panel (if wired in parallel) together as you go through the roof.

Yep, a F Fan or Max Air fan is needed. MA has the advantage of being able to still exhaust air even when raining. FF can't do that without a separate cover.
