I am sooo confused.  To keep heat in the truck topper.  Do I put the reflectix directly on my windows or leave an air gap?

I made mine with Black Gorilla tape on one side (which faces out in cold weather) and as my window seal is fairly thick I was able to keep a slight air gap that seemed to work best as my Buddy heater's heat was reflected off the shinny side back into the interior and the black absorbed and heat from sunlight without transferring it by touching the glass. With my topper both side windows were identical so I could swap sides depending on whether I wanted the shinny side facing in or out.

Reflectix needs an air gap. Its primary purpose is a radiant barrier, so you don't want it to conduct by touching the glass.
