I'm looking for recommendations for a small tv. The less power draw the better. Don't mind a small screen like 9 inches or less. Must be 12v. Definitely would prefer something that picks up more than 2 channels.  :D

Many thanks!

Lots of tv's, I don't know which 12v option would be best...but i had an idea! if you had a laptop, and you are happy with its screen quality /power draw you could get a dvb-usb stick and receive the tv that way, could also record the shows with it if you wanted. one less item in the van! might not work for you, but it just came to me.

number of channels will be more up to the antenna than the tv you pick :)

A USB TV tuner and antenna would turn your laptop into a TV. We do have a 7 inch rechargeable portable TV that just has a Brilliant picture and runs/recharges off of 120v or 12v. It has a stick antenna but can take any antenna any other TV can use. We used it and a 9 inch rechargeable DVD player as our low power solutions before getting solar.

One option is to go to your electronics store and look for a TV that has a removable power brick that puts out 12v. Replace the brick with a 12v cord and it will connect directly to your battery system, no inverter needed. I did this with a TV DVD combo and it works great. Any more we use a 120v TV and a inverter since our satellite dish requires 120v anyways.

A van or other vehicle is a small space, and one person listening to a TV broadcast may annoy someone else. How many small TVs have an earplug adaptor to solve this potential problem?

I'm not sure , but my 24" Visio does. I'd guess a lot of them have HP jacks !?!?

I also have been looking for a TV with a 12volt external power brick as the Visio isn't. I found some at Best Buy , the house brand , can't remember the name but I'll post when I do !
I have an old style 9" , 12 volt TV that came out of a conversion van I salvaged some parts from , it needs a digital converter box though ,these days you can find TVs for about what a converter costs !

This is the converter box I like EXCEPT it requires a inverter. It is $33, converts to HD and if you connect a external hard drive it is a programmable DVR. I use 3 Tb drives that can be found cheap.

It's 120v and bigger than a USB tuner but saving to a HD is easy on a computer and can be switched to something else. My HD TV's, laptop and even tablet have a HDMI port for a stunning picture.

I have a 13.3 inch RCA branded 12v tv. Not quite sure of age. 3 years perhaps. One led backlight developed an issue leading to dark V spreading from bottom middle. Sometimes flickers. Usually ok after.it.warms up.
Id not stress brand name. If it failed tomorrow id buy the one you llinked or similar.

draws about 1.1 amps.

speakers suck but actually quit buzzing as they did id when new.

reception good. But that is 99% the antenna.

Mine is on double elbow oak swing arm for over bbedor throne. Nothing larger required for me.

not great viewed at off angles.

i hope mine holds out until next generation comes out when ever that is

Id skip dvd function on next tv i get if it is cheaper.
