I started watching Bob Wells during the first lockdown. I had lost my job and was considering retirement. I knew I'd found my people!! I'd always dreamed of traveling full-time, but didn't think it was more than a day dream. I've sold my home, moved into an apartment and have ordered my camper (I pick it up in three weeks), and have purchased a proper tow vehicle. I'm a planner, so I'm taking it in steps. I'm plan to hold on to my apartment for a year or so while I travel. Anyway...can't wait to pick up my camper. It's been a long year and I'm excited to see what this new life brings.

Welcome to the forum lynxbeck. I sincerely hope that everything works out for you. Give us some details on the camper and pull vehicle we like to hear those things. And since it’s a brand new commercially made camper you will probably want to join a couple other forms online for RVers. Of course I consider CRVL the best of all but a lot of what we do and talk about here isn’t related to the type of rig you’re describing. There are others with more experience with those things than most of us here. Please understand I’m not saying go away from here I’m just saying widen your horizons a little bit. Welcome.

Thanks for the welcome! I purchased a Range Runner from Runaway campers. I saw an interview Bob Wells did of a woman who traveled fulltime in one. It's 6x8 (just a baby), but perfect for me. My tow vehicle is a 2003 F150 extended cab I purchased from my mechanic. I gave an enormous amount of thought to my 'rig'. I've done lots of camping in my RAV4 and a tent and like the simplicity, but didn't feel quite safe enough in the tent and too crowded in my RAV4 (I travel with a 60lb dog). I needed something in my price range and something I can handle on my own. The Range Runner is made of a fiberglass composite material and weighs only 750lbs. I like the idea of being able to leave my camp without breaking camp. I do belong to a Runaway trailer group and another group for women with travel trailers.

Very smart to keep the apartment for awhile.

Welcome to the CRVL forums Lnyxbeck! You've planned well - taking it in steps is a good idea. Keep us updated!

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

I like that little range runner but I’d want the 6 foot one I just have to stand up in my rig for over 10 years I traveled in a GMC Safari, it wasn’t full time. But as big a man as I am I had a problem with that cramped space. I like my full-size Dodge now and really the mileage isn’t any different than Safari. Since you’re pulling your rig with a nice pick up you’ll have room to store your things that you need so the weight will be over the axle of the truck not as much in the camper. If you’re planning to set up a camp and stay there for a while one of those clam shell or’s would be great on the outside so you have a place you could cook and stand up and move around. But I’m not telling you how to do it you’ll find out on your own what suits you. I’m leaving Crapola wild without tearing down sounds like a winner.
