I swear we need a plumbing forum.

I have an idea to plumb by tanks differently. I've looked at them and I can see the dump valves are attached to PVC fittings which are glued directly to the tanks. Any time I have removed PVC fittings in the past, I have cut the pipe back and put a new fitting on. Obviously I can't do that to my tanks without destroying them as whatever protrusion is there is fully seated inside the fittings.

My only thought so far is to cut through the end of the fitting with a fine saw and try to break it off in pieces, then sand the pipe on the tank. Just thought I'd see if anyone else has done this and has ideas to share.

pvc, and abs for that matter when glued properly is permanent. it's actually a weld it fuses the 2 pieces together. you need to make the cut where you can get a new fitting on. he TMG where are you? highdesertranger

That's how I've always done it. But I've heard of people connecting their black and gray tanks together so how do they do it? All of the fittings are flush together.

I was in Slab City this morning, I'm in San Diego tonight.

I'm not totally sure what you mean, but I'm guessing that you're talking about the single dump outlet, with the double valves behind it.

Basically each tank has it own dump valve, that is then fed into the single dump tube that you connect the dump hose to.  This is usually done so that you can dump your black tank first, the gray tank last, to help rinse out your dump hose.

Google Fernco fittings. They are rubber fittings that will connect to PVC or cast iron of any size. They make them to fit hub to hub/ hub to pipe etc. If you have to cut the pipe off right at the hub you can just buy the fitting to go from hub to pipe. I believe they are even legal for underground and will pass pressure tests on sewer applications. Hope this helps.

They are called NO HUB FITTINGS.  You can get them in different size ends.
