Hi all.  I’m from Colorado & I’ve been living this nomadic lifestyle, sleeping in my SUV for about a month.  I was hoping for a slightly later Winter transition, but Mother Nature had other plans.  A couple of days ago it was low teens/single digit weather.  Already had a 4 season sleeping pad, picked up an arctic sleeping bag to match.  I really hate the cold, but w/this combo I was snug as a bug in a rug.  I believe my coldest temp was 6 degrees.
Now it’s the weekend & I’m in Truth or Consequences, NM.  Temps are far more bearable here.  It’s 1am (I work nights) & 37 degrees. I never knew that I could live in NM & pay about $.62 a day in rent!  Thank yous for both the NM State Park system & Bob Wells for turning me on to this little tidbit!
One of the tremendous perks of this lifestyle is the flexibility.  I have the luxury of a compressed work schedule & plan to travel every other weekend.  But my plan is just a shell.  I’ll mold it as I see fit.  At least I’m not tied to a lease agreement or mortgage.  Not knocking a mortgage as I’d love to own my own home.  Just don’t have any interest in being in debt for the rest of my life.  But my point is, I’ve now got the freedom (work contingent), to live as I see fit!
Hope to meet some of you foks in the near future.  RTR 2020 may be a possibilty.  :shy:

Welcome to the CRVL Forums and lifestyle !   ;)

I have a couple websites below but the one on the bottom could be of the most value to you right now.  (unless you decide to purchase an extended high top van and build it out....or an RV and tow the SUV)

As for a Home.....have you seen any of those Earthship homes ?  They are off grid, stay around 55 degrees inside all year around, catch rain water for the cistern,  can make their own electric & hot water via solar, and have their own septic
system using gray etc.  Very much like a self contained RV.  And you can garden in the solarium area.

Welcome to the CRVL forums Flow! The New Mexico pass is really a good deal. Glad you're enjoying the parks! Hope to see you at the RTR!

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hope you continue to enjoy yourself. Are you concerned about paying for medical treatment? That was always been a concern for me at least until I turned 65 and got Medicare.

Many feel as you do . Never too late. Good luck I really enjoyed my many trips to NM.
