Hi all,

Just creating a check list before getting a van so i can customise to the van.
I have based this off of @bobs and @falcons designs (bed on side) as well as other videos.

(my checklist in no particular order)

Coleman 2 x burner.
Spray bottle (1 water, 1 shower liquid)
Pump spray / Solar washer (first option cheaper)
Blankets and sleeping bag.
A few pots and pans to start me off.
clothes etc.
meds.
Dog, a Koolie

Wanting to get:
sink with hand pump, into 5 gallon water jug
Matteress.
Pyrography kit. ( to capture images and then transfer onto wood, thats what the pyrography kit is for).
recumbrent trike ( i cant use i normal bicycle due to my neuropathic nerve pain)

Family life just threw me another curve ball and i thought screwit (sorry for the language) but thats why I am getting ready to hit the road.
please lenow if ive forgotten anything, a wee bit stressed at the moment.
Kind Regards
scott

Welcome to the forum Scott................more questions than answers.................

Is this for the USA or Australia ? Where you gonna live..........City or Boondock ?..............a Koolie sounds like a pretty active dog....... huh?

You've got to eat right ?.......Where do you get and keep your food?........is that a frig......powered by what?........OR a cooler.....how/where do you get yer Ice ?

A little shade awning to get out of the van.......a fan to cool off when it's Hot........a little heater when/if it's Cold.......a bucket/crapper.........some water supply for the sink........a camp chair to rest your bones out-of-the-van

Most of us find we need some form of a battery bank/generator/solar to make this life practical.......what say you................G' Day Mate

Hi Doug,

I will answer you questions as best i can.
I have applied for the green card lottery last year so this year in May i will find out if I was successful or not. So prepping for Australia
Where am I going to live: Boondocking is preferred but to be honest both, but preferable self-sustained where i can.
Yes a koolie is active but mine is more passive and a morning and afternoon 20-minute walk does him fine he loves to snuggle.
a fridge I was going to make a cooler out of a fan, esky and ice ( i will see if i can find the link). You can get ice from supermarkets or service stations. I am a vegetarian so keeping my food in a small container with a lid or two.Trying to keep costs low as i will be on my own (no other person or carer with me).
I will invest in a solar charger for my phone (no laptop at present), I need for my pyrography machine.I also have a cot bed :) it arrived yesterday. I am trying to get a van, there is a mitushibshi patrol for sale near me, i will check it out next week not my inital favourite but its an option that has come up. a van a mitsubshi l300 4x4 is for sale a 1000.00 so it may have engine issues, again this is for next week as they are in the same spot.. I have some basic tools, I am no mechanic but have breakdown service nationwide.
Its currently winter here so I am looking at a kerolamp for heat inside, i have a bucket (rectangle one)for a sink at the moment, and a to do tomorrow is getting a toilet bucket .

I appreciate all your input and insight.

Please keep them coming so I can be prepared for the van life before i leave.

Kind Regards
Scott

Hi All

I have taken the plunge and purchased a 1982 Nissan Urvan Camper. It has a pop top, Shower (hot water 100litres of fresh water), a gas/propane 2 burner and a area for a double bed. Its has the old tube lighting which i hope to change to led, it also has include a deep cycle batttery.

Its currently at the mechanics getting a road worthy certificate before i add registration.

I appreciate your input on any mods, I will provide pictures when I am able to, probably next week.

Kind Regards
scott

My vehicle in her current state, I want to change the light to led, the bed (the big white photo) to a foam mattress and change the legs as they maybe to heavy.

100liters of water, a shower (cold from the tap at the rear) the struts need replacing. Propane oven / gas hob.

Your ideas are appreciated, this is my canvas, I'd like your input. 4 Rubbermaid containers and a wee bit more can be fitted under the bed.

It's not my dream go anywhere car, so not 4 x 4.

Kind Regards,
Scott
