I felt so clever when I picked up a $1 pool noodle at walmart, following the advice on here to make a softer seat for the potty bucket. But when I sliced it and put it around the top, it's too stiff and wants to pop off as little as half way round the 5 gallon container! Did I make a mistake buying the smaller, cheaper size?

I don't feel as clever now.

Seems like I remember, when I've heard it described/explaining set-up, it's usually necessary to tape the noodle to the bucket in several places in order to keep them in place and attached.

A proctologist will tell you that you shouldn't spend more than 5 minutes on the pot, so I find a piece of pipe insulation works just fine and doesn't require any additional securement to hold it in place. Sure it's not as plush as a pool noodle, but it's already got the slit cut down the middle, and it's much easier to use and to store in the bucket when not in potty-mode.

It also comes pre-split. It just doesn't come in happy colors.

LOL, reminds me of a saying I used to hear; "I'm so happy, I could just s***" --- guess I know where it comes from now ...

I did try some tape, but it doesn't seem to want to stick to the noodle. Maybe I should try tape that's not from the dollar store.  :D

I contact cemented mine on. It's permanent, so keep that in mind if you want/need it to come off your bucket for any reason. It's also a little tricky to install as you only get one chance with the stuff. I've used it for years making laminate counter tops and commercial cabinets so i've got the knack down to a science.

sounds like a lug able loo for a tenner is a lot cheaper, i wish i only needed to spend 5 mins. on the crapper,,,,,yeah thats right I'm the brother of all crappers

Oh hell, I slnit 4 or 5 times a day. I make it to the toilet 3 or 4 times.

Use the pre-split pipe insulation (comes in various diameters), and tape it with Gorilla Tape (but it only comes in black and white, and I've never seen the white).

You may be able to slice out a few wedges from the inside surface of the noodle, That way it would compress easier.

I left a gap and have never had it pop off. don't forget to cut the handle and mount the all important paper.  :D
