Period and Pads- options

I know that there is a topic hiding in the forum somewhere for this topic but I have no idea where is it.<br><br>There has been talk of the Wemoon brand of reusable pad. I thought it sounded like a great idea to save money and be kinder to the environment.<br><br>I found them online and in a local eco store. But they cost $18 in the store. I have the money, but I was not prepaired to pay quite that much. So I headed to Spotlight and bought some material for $2. I have a template for them... now to make them. <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle">

This may not be helpful, but something to consider: I buy my monthly supplies at the Dollar Tree where everything is $1. That's $12 a year for use it and then throw it away convenience. To me, it is worth it to not have to wash and dry and store a reusable pad.

Ironically, when my boys were little, I kept them in cloth diapers and cloth training pants. I saved our landfills from 100s of Pampers and Pull-ups, so I applaud your effort to be environmentally responsible.

Diva cup. I am allergic to something they use in pads and tampons. I had to go with a mantra of "it's just nature the first month," but cool and groovey after that.

Oh, was using the reusable pads, but with water limits and arthritis in an rv....they are easy to manage and clean. I got over my female body issues. If guys had to do this they would be all har har har, had to add a cap to the plumbing.

Hm...I'm not sure I'd want to do the reusable pad thing since I'm stealthing, but good luck to you! I also use a diva cup.

I've been using reusable pads for over 7 years now, &amp; I plan on doing it while on the road.&nbsp; I don't see it being that big of a deal for stealthing (you just keep them in a bucket until your period is over, then rinse them all at once, which you can do while you shower, then throw them in with your normal laundry)<br><br>I make my own.&nbsp; I've made enough pads for an entire week for less than $50 in materials, &amp; most of that money went to the top layer because I wanted them to all be pretty &amp; different&nbsp; <br><br><br>I find I'm too picky with my pads.&nbsp; I like the new Always Infinity pads, they're actually comfy &amp; give me the coverage I need, but they're so expensive&nbsp;

You know those big packs of baby diapers? I only find them at Walmart anymore and they're labeled as burp rags or something I think. But they're these tri-fold cotton things and the middle section is thick and absorbent. You can add a snap to the foldy parts if you want. Cut them in half for daytime and leave them long for heavy overnights. I use them usually in combination with the instead cup. The label says to throw the cups away and replace every 8 hours or something. I leave one in for my whole period - squat and bear down to pop the seal and empty the cup. You can also pull them out, rinse, and re-insert, if you have those kind of facilities. Then throw it away at the end of your period.
