View attachment 8649mid nineties the EPA came down on all the harsh chemicals in auto paint so the big 3 complied and re-formulated the chemicals these paint jobs are referred to as "peelers" as in the paint just falls off the undercoat thats the word from the many respectable paint shops here in San Fran.I got about 7
estimates and the 400 dollar one got the work, frivolous as it seems it does put a smile on my face.

just a side note, you can still get real automotive paint in some parts of the country. it all depends on the air quality of the area as to what's allowed. I know several people with classic cars that take them to Arizona to have them painted. highdesertranger

That is actually still chipped and it's the driver door but no rust and will do this one myself light sanding and rustolium

that looks nice, now the ones on your fender will drive you nuts

Use a razor blade to remove the top coat. Sand the sealer with a DA and 400 grit. spray a sealer, then base coat, and clearcoat. color sand with 1500 grit, then 2000 grit, buff. From start to finish depending on materials you use will set you back anywhere from $600 (a job that may last 1 year) to $1200. This is for materials alone, If you hire someone plan on spending $2500 - $3000, depending on where you live.
How do I know, 30 years of collision experience, 8 years of teaching collision repair.

Good luck using rustolium.
