I've been wanting to open up an account with a nation wide bank, but I'm worried that I'll go in there and get denied for not having and address or charged for crap I don't need or want. Anyone know any good banks that won't give me a hassle?
So are there any specific banks or credit unions that I should use/avoid?
fwiw, inc direct, ally bank are great banks. If you can get an account at USAA - best bank ever, hands down. www.netspend.com (which I use with my ally bank) is another alternative. Avoid all the criminal banks (bank of america, chase, citibank) etc. No good whatsoever.

With the netspend account its a prepaid debit card, you can do bill pay, check your balance online, receive direct deposit, and they have reload centers all over the country so it works great with this lifestyle.

Thanks for the tip on Ally Bank. CNN Money calls them one of the 8 least evil banks and as a bonus, appears to be American owned and operated (at least I couldn't find anything that said it wasn't)

I hadn't heard of netspend, so I googled it... http://www.ripoffreport.com/directory/netspend.aspx

since I'm on the road constantly for banking and other so called places that require a permanent address I joined escapees to use their mail service and the address they give you is reconized as a permanent address so good for all legal stuff.plus no matter where I'm at all I need to do is call an 800# and have mail sent general delivery to me any place
